Palazzo Reale in Milan will be the first stage of the exceptional and unprecedented tour of the world
famous collection of masterpieces of American Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, Williamstown, United States, including major French works of the nineteenth century, with beautiful paintings by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Edouard Manet, Berthe Morisot and Camille Pissarro.
The Impressionists exhibition. Clark Art Collection will be held from March 2 to June 19 2011 and will have 73 works by French masters of the nineteenth century.

The exhibition presents a rich selection of his most important paintings of great poetry, in some cases absolute masterpieces, are part of an organic path that does not "island" gems, but on the contrary part of a development of styles, movements, research. For this reason, next to and around the works of the Impressionists are paintings of the artists who formed the immediate background for the birth of the new painting "independent", there are plenty of rivals (such as members of the academic tradition) and the artists who, at the end nineteenth century, brought new scenarios and solutions, such as Gauguin and Toulouse-Lautrec.

addition, if Paris is still the fulcrum around which the choices of spouses Clark, precisely the function of the cosmopolitan capital of France makes the collection of artists works from entering the British, Dutch, Belgians, Italians, Americans, in an extraordinary way to enrich the texture of relationships and cultural intricacies of the banks of the Seine. The artists featured in the exhibition are twenty-six and preparation binds to this smart collection of cultural reasons, to lead the visitor to enter into the dynamics of art the late nineteenth century, in the transition between the traditional "classical" and the first real painting "modern."
